Lígia Madeira
Born in Covilhã (Portugal), Lígia Madeira developed as an eclectic pianist throughout a steady technical and interpretative deepening since she first started studying the piano at her hometown.
Later on, she continued her studies with distinction at Porto Conservatory of Music, Porto Superior School of Music and Performing Arts, Aveiro University, Franz Liszt Academy of Music (Budapest - Hungary), and Zaragoza Superior Conservatory of Music (Spain).
Master in music education, she has continuously developed as a musician through solo repertoire, concerts with orchestra, choir and chamber music, under a strong influence of contemporary music and composers, premiering several works.
Her sound and technical approach has been developed under the relevant influence of musicians like Madalena Soveral, Ana Bela Chaves, Pedro Burmester, Josep Colom and Anne Queffélec, having performed in several countries. Distinguished with national solo and chamber music prizes during her academic years, Lígia Madeira recorded several concerts to national radio and television since then.
Her chamber music work has a significant place in her path, maintaining acclaimed duos with the musicians with whom she identifies the most: Marco Pereira (flute), António José Pereira (viola), and Luís Duarte (piano) – with whom she released in 2021 the CD “Portuguese Music for Piano Duo”, on Brilliant Classics label.
Since 2013 she teaches Piano at Porto Conservatory of Music and since 2018 at Espinho Professional Music School, where she has been able to develop and deepen her pedagogical approach to the instrument.
