The artistic career of Luca Torrigiani began in 1992, with a prestigious tournée in Japan, where he also held a private concert in honour of the Imperial family.

He studied at the Florentine school of music, where he obtained top grades in pianoforte, organ and organ composition at the “L. Cherubini” Conservatory of Florence, under the guidance of Maestros Stefano Fiuzzi and Mariella Mochi. At the same Conservatory, he then graduated with a full honours degree at the two-year II level specialisation course with Daniela De Santis.

He then attended the international perfection course with Piernarciso Masi, graduating in chamber music at the international piano academy “Incontri col Maestro” of Imola, where he obtained his master diploma (with the maximum grades possible). Hector Moreno, Alexander Lonquich, Frank Wibaut and Jörg Demus have also contributed to his training.

He has had an intense schedule of concerts for many years, playing all over Europe, North and South America, Asia and in all the most important concert halls: Salamanca Hall, Chomin Kaikan, Clara Saal Hall as well as venues in Rome, Milan, Bari, Turin, Bologna, Florence, Barcelona, Bu-charest, New York, Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich etc.

He has headlined as soloist with important orchestras, such as the Ramnicu Valcea “Ion Dumitres-cu” Philharmonic, the Bacau “Mihail Jora” Philharmonic, the Bari “Euroorchestra”, the Mexican State Symphonic Orchestra, the Botosani State Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Sanremo Sym-phonic Orchestra.

For some years now, he has focused mainly on a repertoire of chamber music. He is a founder, with Davide Bandieri (principle clarinet in the Luasanne Chamber orchestra) of the Prevert Duo, which has been awarded many first prizes in national and international compititions, including: Città di Grosseto Competition, Città di Casarza Liguria Competition, Città di San Giuliano Terme “Miroirs” Competition, the Città di Pietra Ligure and the Città di Racconigi International Compe-tition, the Ortona National Competition, the “Riviera della Versilia” Competition, the “Menicagli” compitition in Livorno and the “Luigi Nono” Competition at Venaria in Turin, the Città di Mon-tescudo Competition, “Fidapa” in the Città di Pisa and Città di Manerbio in Bolsano. In March 2002 he received a special mention for the best execution of Brahms at the Pinerolo International Chamber Music Competition.

His great passion for chamber music has led him to enlarge his repertoire and use unusual for-mations: in a duo with the guitarist Lapo Vannucci and in a trio with the flautist Rieko Okuma and Lapo Vannucci. These formations have attracted the attention of numerous contemporary com-posers: Teresa Procaccini, Francesco De Santis, Luigi Giachino, Francesco Di Fiore, Albino Taggeo, Matteo Pittino and Giuseppe Crapisi all of whom have dedicated compositions to the trio. The Velut Luna label has recently published a CD with music by 20th century Italian composers for guitar and pianoforte.

He is also active in the teaching field and has taught at the conservatories of Adria, Bari, Vibo Valentia, and Trapani. He is currently professor of piano at Padova’s “C.Pollini” Conservatory. Thanks to the numerous successes gained by his students, he has won many awards for teaching in numerous piano competitions. Furthermore, he often sits on the jury of prestigious national and international competitions and is the Artistic Director of the Rospigliosi Music and Culture Asso-ciation that for years has been behind one of the most renowned national musical instrument com-petitions.
